Suspect found dangling in air

Union County Sheriff’s Officers arriving at an Irving Avenue apartment in Elizabeth to conduct an arrest warrant found their man dangling out a window five stories about the ground.
Jerry Herbert, 36, of Elizabeth, was wanted for failing to appear in court last week.
Officers report that after Herbert was pulled to safety and taken into custody, he explained his escape plan.
“I would just drop and roll,” he said.
Herbert is facing five years in prison as a result of a plea bargain on drug charges.
